History

The Cal Poly Black Faculty and Staff Association emerged in 1997 from the restructuring of an organization formerly known as the Concerned Black Community (CBC). The CBC was officially recognized as a campus organization by President Warren Baker in 1979. Over the years it served as a voice in issues regarding the recruitment, retention, and promotion of Black faculty, staff, and students. In addition, the CBC sponsored and supported various activities celebrating the contributions that Blacks and other ethnic groups have made to this country.

 

With renewed energy and focus, the Cal Poly Black Faculty and Staff Association is set to have a greater impact on diversity related issues on campus and in the local community. Membership is open to Cal Poly faculty, staff, and student representatives as well as individuals from the local community.
